The American author, Rick Riordan was born on June 5, 1964 in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Alamo Heights High School and University of Texas. For eight years, he taught English and Social Studies at Presidio High School at San Francisco.
Rick Riordan was best known for writing the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series which was awarded as #1 New York Times Bestseller and him being a #1 New York Times Bestselling Author.
He was also the author of Heroes of Olympus ( a sequel to the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series), the Egypian mythology The Kane Chronicles, the The 39 Clues and the Multi-award Winning Tres Navarre, an adult mystery series.
He started writing mystery stories for grownups while teaching full time. His series Tres Navarre won the top three national awards in the mystery genre the Anthony, the Edgar and the Shamus. He then turned on writing children's fiction when he started with The Lightning thief which he made as a bedtime story for his oldest son .
In the United States today, there are already over forty million copies of his Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Heroes of Olympus, and the Kane chronicles books. The rights are sold to more than 37 other countries.
He lives in Boston with his wife and two sons and now writes full-time.
